Investment Philosophy
Atom scrutinises under-researched market sectors looking to profit from mispriced assets.
Share prices swing wildly around "fair value" because the market is not accurate at fixing the perfect price for every security each day (else there would be little price volatility). In information-deficient market sectors this effect is more pronounced.
Over the longer term the share market is far more accurate. Some companies do well and some companies do poorly based on business fundamentals and in particular, a company's ability to generate cash flow.
Successful ongoing investing requires a disciplined investment process incorporating analytical rigour, dispassionate risk analysis and disciplined portfolio construction. Managing this within a framework that gives the Fund Managers sufficient time to perform meaningful analysis is the key to success.
Some investment managers make decisions without modeling their target investments. Atom models every company it invests in. Many investment managers make decisions based mostly on someone else's research. Atom does its own research. Many never meet with their investment targets face to face. Atom always does.
